Disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff led a delegation of lawmakers to Pakistan in 1997 without telling them he was representing the Pakistani government, The New York Times reports.

Abramoff was registered as Pakistan's lobbyist up until 1997. But he told the lawmakers the trip was sponsored by the National Security Caucus Foundation, a now defunct organization.

Abramoff didn't foot the bill for the trip but has used his personal credit card to pay more than $350,000 for other Congressional-related trips, The Times said.
