A member of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana is being threatened with legal action for her efforts to recall chairman Lovelin Poncho and two council members.
In a letter to tribal members, Flo Pitre blasted Poncho for firing the employee who accepted the recall petitions. She said that when she worked for the tribe, Poncho made her start a recall against his political opponents.
Pitre said she would reveal other embarrassing information about Poncho. His lawyer threatened to refer her to authorities if she continued her campaign.
The Coushatta Tribe gave more than $32 million to former Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff and a public relations executive. The high fees are the focus of a Senate investigation.
