The Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana is being represented by the same law firm that is defending a political action group founded by House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas).
The tribe hired Hance Scarborough Woodward & Weisbart to provide legal advice regarding
the Senate investigation of Jack Abramoff and Michael Scanlon. Both men have close ties to DeLay.
At the same time the firm is advising the tribe on a matter that could affect DeLay,
the firm is the Texans for a Republican Majority, which DeLay founded, in civil lawsuits brought by Democrats. A firm partner said the two issues are separate.
