Miccosukee Tribe skeptical of state cleanup plan

The Miccosukee Tribe is skeptical of the state of Florida's latest plan to clean up the Everglades, a spokesperson said.

The tribe has been battling the state over pollution of the Everglades, the tribe's homeland. The tribe says the state hasn't been moving fast enough and isn't complying with federal clean water standards.

The state says its $1.5 billion Acceler8 project will speed up the restoration of the Everglades. It shifts more responsibility to the state, which the tribe doesn't support, rather than the federal government.
