The Army Corps of Engineers on Wednesday suspended work on part of the $7.8 billion Everglades restoration project, a move the Miccosukee Tribe of Florida said was an attempt to put pressure on homeowners.

The tribe and the homeowners have fought a forced flooding of land by the Corps. A federal judge last month ruled in their favor.

But Corps officials don't want to move on a key project until that issue is resolved. The suspension will delay the entire effort by at least two years, according to the Corps.
