Meskwaki voters asked to choose new leaders

THURSDAY, MAY 22, 2003 Members of the Meskwaki Tribe of Iowa are being asked to go to the polls to choose a new slate of leaders. The tribe's leadership is currently in dispute. An appointed council is claiming control over an elected council. The appointed council hopes today's vote will settle the issue. The elected council, however, has said it won't recognize the results. Get the Story:
