Meskwaki Tribe undergoing leadership struggle

THURSDAY, APRIL 10, 2003 A leadership dispute within the Meskwaki Tribe of Iowa is impacting the tribe's finances and the tribe's casino. Two banks have frozen the tribe's bank accounts due to the situation. And the state has canceled negotiation sessions for a new gaming compact. A federal judge will hold a hearing on the competing leadership claims today. The entire tribal council was removed last month. Get the Story:
