Non-Indians in Calif. worry about aftermath of fire

Non-Indians who rented housing sites on California reservations hit by a recent fire are worried they won't be welcomed back. The Paradise Fire destroyed land, housing and other property on 14 reservations in southern California. On some reservations, nearly every house was lost. While many tribal members were affected, some non-Indians were also displaced. Officials from the Rincon Tribe and the San Pasqual Tribe are trying to dispel rumors that they won't be allowed back but they warn that it may take time to rebuild all the home sites and ensure they have hook-ups and other infrastructure. The effort is complicated somewhat by the lack of regulation of rental agreements on the San Pasqual Reservation. Get the Story:
