Calif. tribe donating $1M to aid fire victims
Friday, November 14, 2003

The Sycuan Tribe has donated $1 million to aid victims of recent fires in southern California.

The tribe will give $500 cash and $1,000 in gift cards to every family in two rural communities that lost a home. Also, the tribe will spend $200,000 to rebuild three buildings destroyed by fire.

The Cedar and Paradise fires destroyed nearly 30,000 acres of tribal land. Of the 18 reservations in San Diego County, 14 were hit, some severely.

The California Nations Indian Gaming Association has set up a fund to help the tribes affected. Donations can be made to:
The Disaster Relief Fund for Tribes
Borrego Springs Bank
