San Manuel Band donates $1 million to disaster funds

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is donating $1 million to help victims of recent fires in southern California that have destroyed several reservations.

The tribe is donating $100,000 to a disaster fund set up by the California Nations Indian Gaming Association for tribes. The rest of the money will go to the victims in San Bernardino and the Riverside chapter of the American Red Cross.

Two major fires destroyed nearly 30,000 acres of tribal land. Of 18 reservations in San Diego County, 14 saw loss of homes and other structures.
