Driver testifies in trial over Pueblo man's death
The New Mexico man accused of killing William Tenorio of San Felipe Pueblo took the stand in his trial on Monday. Carlos Fierro, 36, an attorney and lobbyist who has worked on Indian issues, apologized to Tenorio's family for the November 26, 2008, accident. He said he didn't know he hit Tenorio outside of a bar in downtown Santa Fe. "There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about him," said Fierro, The Albuquerque Journal reported. Despite Fierro's apology, his attorneys have blamed Tenorio for contributing to his death. "The Tenorio family had to sit here and listen to their son be blamed for his own death. I cannot think of anything more insulting," District Attorney Angela "Spence" Pacheco said during closing arguments, the paper reported. Alfred Lovato, a former state police officer, faces similar charges for Tenorio's death. He was the passenger in the car. Get the Story:
