Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe to meet on Marshall

Leaders of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe will meet tonight behind closed doors to discuss the future of chairman Glenn Marshall, who relinquished his duties amid distortions about his military record and revelations about his criminal past.

A second meeting is planned by tribal members who have been shunned for speaking out against Marshall. They hope to prevent him from retaining his post as chairman as the tribe moves forward with its land-into-trust applications.

Marshall admitted to lying about receiving several high honors during his service in Vietnam. He never worked as a police officer or an investigator, as he had claimed. He was convicted of rape in 1981 and was once arrested for drunk driving and for possession of cocaine.
