Trespass charges dismissed in Mashpee case

A judge in Massachusetts dismissed trespass charges against four members of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.

The four were arrested for attending the tribe's powwow against the wishes of tribal leaders. They include elder Amelia Bingham, who helped start the tribe's federal recognition petition.

Bingham, her son and others have questioned how the tribe is spending its money. They have been officially "shunned" by the tribal council.

As the charges were dismissed yesterday, the four agreed not to trespass on tribal property for the next three months.
