Gila River Indian Community working on retail project

The Gila River Indian Community of Arizona is working on a major retail project on its reservation near Phoenix.

Negotiations are underway and the deal hasn't been finalized. But Kimberly Lewis, general manager of the Wild Horse Pass Development Authority, told the Chandler Chamber of Commerce that it will be a "significant retail" project, The Arizona Republic reported.

Additionally, the tribe is working on a retail, office and industry development on another part of the reservation. The tribe also recently opened the 76,000-square-foot Wild Horse Pass Corporate Center, an office complex that is nearly half leased, Lewis said.
