Officials with the Gila River Indian Community of Arizona have decided to relocate a famed Western town near its casino, rejecting an alternate site on the reservation.
The tribe purchased the Rawhide Western Town for an undisclosed price. Currently located in Scottsdale, the town will be moved to the reservation. It is expected to reopen in November.
The town currently sees about 600,000 visitors a year. The tribe plans to add more attractions, including a rodeo, to lure tourists to the reservation.
