The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts is reportedly close to an intergovernmental agreement with the town of Mashpee.
The tribe promised not to reopen its land claim in return for the town's support on its federal recognition petition.
That issue appears to be settled, though some individual tribal members have said they want to revive the lawsuit.
Another issue on the table is gaming. The town wants assurances that the tribe won't open any type of gaming facility.
