Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation heads to polls

The Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut holds elections on Saturday amid efforts to gain federal recognition.

The tribe won a favorable decision from former assistant secretary Neal McCaleb. But after a challenge from the state, associate deputy secretary Jim Cason turned down the tribe.

James Cunha, a candidate for vice chairman, says nothing has happened in the 18 months since the negative decision. He blames inaction on current vice chair Mark Sebastian, who says it's state attorney general Richard Blumenthal who is holding things up.
