David H. Safavian, a former Bush administration official convicted for lying about his ties to Jack Abramoff, was in court again on Thursday.
Safavian's attorney asked a federal judge to overturn his conviction or grant him a new trial. Safavian says the jury shouldn't have seen e-mails he sent to Abramoff, a former close associate.
Safavian is the only person who went to trial in connection with the Abramoff scandal. Five others, including Abramoff, entered guilty pleas.
