Middle school students on the Winnebago Reservation in Nebraska are working with the National Museum of the American Indian and Little Priest Tribal College to develop a virtual museum.
The eight young tribal members visited NMAI in Washington, D.C., last August. They are bringing the museum closer to home by photographing and creating an online repository of Winnebago artifacts.
Last week, three NMAI employees came to the reservation to meet with the students and complete some more work on the Internet museum. NMAI plans to expand the project to include all indigenous cultures.
