The National Museum of the American Indian in New York will receive a $1.5 million grant to expand its home in downtown Manhattan.
The money will go towards a $5 million renovation project to add 6,000 square feet to the 15,000-square-foot museum. Plans for the addition of a pavilion for public programs and performances.
The grant is being announced this afternoon at a press conference at NMAI by Gov. George E. Pataki (R) and Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg (R).
