Federal prosecutors are asking a judge to sentence a former Bush administration official to prison for his role in the Jack Abramoff scandal.
David Safavian, a former General Services Administration chief of staff and former White House Office of Management and Budget official, pleaded guilty to lying about his connections to Abramoff.
While working for the administration, he went on a lavish golf trip financed by Abramoff's clients and he provided information about government workings that was beneficial to Abramof's tribal and non-tribal clients.
Safavian, who use to lobby for the National Indian Gaming Association, did not enter a guilty plea. He went to trial and was found guilty by a jury of four of five counts laid against him.
Prosecutors want a sentence between 30 and 37 months.
