Passamaquoddy man joins firm seeking gas terminal

A member of the Passamaquoddy Tribe of Maine has joined the firm seeking to build a liquefied natural gas terminal on the reservation.

Fred Moore, the tribe's former state representative, has touted the LNG terminal as a way to improve the economy on the Pleasant Point Reservation. He brought Quoddy Bay LNG, his new employer, to the tribe.

The tribe signed an agreement to host the $400 million plant but some tribal members and environmental groups are opposed to the deal. The opponents filed a lawsuit against the Bureau of Indian Affairs for approving the lease.
