The Senate Indian Affairs Committee will hold a hearing June 14 on S.374, the Tribal Parity Act.
The bill adds money to the trust accounts of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe and the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe. The two tribes lost valuable land, sacred sites and other property to dams that were built on the Missouri River.
The committee previously approved the bill in June 2005 although a hearing wasn't held during the 109th Congress. A hearing on a similar version of the bill had been held in June 2004.
