Attorneys will receive at least $80 million in fees under Canada's residential school abuse settlement, CBC News reports.
The Canadian government has agreed to pay $40 million each to two sets of lawyers. The fees are expected to run higher once other groups of lawyers are paid.
In contrast, elderly residential school survivors will receive an average of $30,000. Stephen Kakfwi, a former student and former premier of the Northwest Territories, said the people who suffered the most are getting paid the least.
