Abramoff Scandal
Coushatta Tribe hopes to recover money from firm

The Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana hopes the guilty pleas by Jack Abramoff and Michael Scanlon will lead to the recovery of the millions in fees paid to the men and the Greenberg Traurig firm.

The tribe has sued Greenberg Traurig, where Abramoff worked, to sort out the "damages," a tribal lawyer said. The firm has cooperated with the investigations into the scandal and has reached settlements with some of Abramoff's other clients.

The Coushattas spent about $32 million on Abramoff and Scanlon, according to news reports. Some of that will be paid back in restitution.
