At the direction of disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff, the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana made $330,000 in campaign contributions on the same day.
A document posted by PoliticalMoneyLine details the 61 checks the tribe wrote on March 6, 2002. Politicians and political action committees from both parties received money, the document shows [PDF: Coushatta Internal Accounting].
Not every lawmaker who appears on the list accepted the money. Rep. Ric Keller (R-Orlando) was due to receive $1,000 but rejected it, probably because it came from a gaming tribe, his staff said.
