The Connecticut Supreme Court has agreed to hear three tribal sovereignty cases, The New London Day reports.
The first case is an ongoing dispute between the Mohegan Tribe and Bradley W. Beecher, a former employee. Beecher filed a lawsuit against the tribe and says the tribe waived its sovereign immunity when it filed lawsuit against him in state court. A lower court judge agreed with the tribe and dismissed Beecher's case.
The two other cases involve the Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation and its business agreements. Donald Trump and another investor have filed separate lawsuits that accuse the tribe of breaking its word. A lower court judge said the tribe is not entitled to sovereign immunity.
