Son of land claim judge wins at Oneida Nation

The son of the federal judge who handled the Oneida Nation land claim and other tribal land claims won $45,000 at the Oneida Nation's casino.

Neal McCurn Jr. won the money while playing slots at the Turning Stone Casino. His father is Neal McCurn Sr., who handled the case from 1983 to 2001 before handing it to a new judge.

McCurn Sr. said he has never visited the casino due to the judicial proceedings. "It would just look improper, even though I had nothing to do with it. If it had my name on it, I'd send it right back," he told The Syracuse Post-Standard.
