"It wasn't enough just to say goodbye to Neva Rogers in Bemidji on Monday morning.

The way she died left people wondering if they could have done what the Red Lake High School teacher did a week ago. Rogers, 62, stood between her students and 16-year-old Jeff Weise. The teacher was shot and killed. The students in the room were spared.

Law enforcement officials, U.S. Sen. Mark Dayton, students and many others have a simple word to describe Rogers' actions: Hero.

'She's influenced the world,' said the Rev. Genelle Netland during funeral services at Calvary Lutheran Church on Monday morning. 'When you're a teacher, you have a deep, selfless care for your students. Today, she symbolizes all teachers everywhere.'"
