Arizona Gov. Jon Brewer (R) is expected to sign a bill that seeks stop the the Tohono O'odham
Nation from opening an off-reservation casino.
The Arizona Senate passed the bill on Wednesday, a day after it passed the House.
The bill allows the city of Glendale to annex the tribe's land without the tribe's consent.
""This is a gross misuse of power by the State Legislature that is based on personal opinion instead of the law," Chairman Ned Norris Jr said in a statement, The Glendale Star reported. "The Tohono O'odham Nation will do everything that is necessary to protect our rights and the rights of all landowners, including Arizona's tribes."
The tribe purchased about 146 acres near Glendale for a casino. The city has already annexed part of the property.
