A federal judge has allowed Republican lawmakers in Arizona to join a lawsuit challenging the Tohono O'odham Nation off-reservation casino.
The four lawmakers are leaders in the Arizona Legislature. Judge David Campbell said they can represent the interests of the state.
The city of Glendale and the Gila River Indian Community are suing the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
They say the agency can't place 53 acres in trust for the Tohono O'odham Nation.
The BIA has not determined whether the tribe can engage in gaming at the site. The tribe acquired the land in connection with a land claim settlement.
