Redding Rancheria disenrolls 67 family members
Thursday, January 29, 2004

The tribal council on the Redding Rancheria disenrolled 67 members of an extended family on Wednesday, almost one-quarter of its membership, The Redding Record Searchlight reported.

The Foreman family said they have DNA evidence that proves descent from an original rancheria member. It apparently wasn't convincing to the tribal council, or to the general membership.

Family members met with the tribal council over two days this week. Exchanges were heated, according to the paper. The family has filed a lawsuit in state court challenging their removal.
