TREASURY HOLDING TRAINING SESSION ON EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE GRANT
To support Tribal governments with Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA1) grant closeout, Treasury will host a training session on how to submit the Final Report on Tuesday, January 10 at 3:00 pm ET.

2. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT:
TECHNICAL WORKSHOPS FOR NEW MARKETS TAX CREDIT PROGRAM NATIVE INITIATIVE
Participate in our next round of technical workshops on February 22 and 23 in person at Embassy Suites Phoenix Downtown North or attend virtually via Zoom.

The NMTC Program Native Initiative is an effort to increase New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) investment in Federal Indian Reservations, Off-Reservation Trust Lands, Hawaiian Home Lands, and Alaska Native Village Statistical Areas, collectively referred to as NMTC Native Areas. Big Water Consulting and its partners were selected by the CDFI Fund to administer this project based on their extensive knowledge of the NMTC Program and their experience conducting trainings related to the NMTC Program for Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and Community Development Entities (CDEs).

The next set of workshops will be held on February 22 and 23 at Embassy Suites Phoenix Downtown North. These workshops will delve into the Allocatee (CDE) and QALICB roles and how these parties can successfully utilize NMTCs in Native areas. A limited number of travel stipends will be made available to participants who require financial assistance to participate. These stipends will be provided to one person per participating organization on a first-come, first-served basis.

3. FOR YOUNG PROFESSIONALS:
APPLY FOR THE 2023 LEADERSHIP SUMMIT IN WASHINGTON, DC
Join a cohort of Native American young professionals in Washington, D.C., this Spring at the 2023 NAFOA Leadership Summit!

Summit attendees learn directly from tribal leaders and business professionals during a full day of programming that provides panel discussions regarding graduate school, career advancement, along with business and tribal economic development topics.

Young professionals ages 21-27 years old participating in Career Basics are invited to apply for the NAFOA Leadership Summit. Interested applicants must be registered and making active progress in the Career Basics program, or have completed the program within the past 2 years.

4. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
DEADLINE APPROACHING: LEADING PEOPLE AND INVESTING TO BUILD SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES
Leading People and Investing to Build Sustainable Communities (LPIBSC) is a collaboration among Harvard Business School (HBS) Executive Education, NAFOA, and AFOA Canada.

Its mission is to inspire and support Native finance professionals and leaders, as well as equip them with the tools to lead high-performing, innovative communities or organizations. At the program’s conclusion, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from Harvard Business School.

Admission to the program is highly competitive and early application is encouraged. NAFOA has 8 need-based funding available for selected eligible participants (see the application form for more details).

Applications are due no later than Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 11:59 PM Alaska Time.

5. JOBS:

As a key member of the senior management team, the COO reports directly to the President/CEO and is responsible for the efficiency of the business including driving revenue, profitability and company growth.
