The House Committee on Natural Resources is taking up four bills at a markup session, including one of interest in Indian Country.

One of the bills on the agenda for the markup on Wednesday morning is H.R.3925, the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation Land Exchange Act. The bill authorizes a land exchange between the federal government and the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation.

The tribe would receive about 1,475 of federal forest land in southern California while the United States would receive about 1,460 acres. The land exchange has been under consideration by the U.S. Forest Service for several years.

The House Subcommittee on Indian and Insular Affairs took testimony on H.R.3925 on September 9, 2025. Joe Maarango, a council leader from the tribe, testified in support of the legislation, citing a lack of certainty within the executive branch.

The markup takes place at 10am Eastern in Room 1324 of Longworth House Office Building. Assuming the committee approves H.R.3925, the bill can be considered for further action in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The companion version of the bill is S.2796 in the U.S. Senate. A hearing took place before the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs on June 3, 2026.
