"On a recent business trip to Washington, I was honored to be the guest of Lt. Gen. Chris Christianson at the Pentagon’s Medal of Honor induction ceremony for Master Sgt. Woodrow “Woody” Keeble. Keeble, a two-war veteran from Wapehton, N.D., was honored for his extraordinary service in the Korean War, service that truly was above and beyond the call of duty.
Unfortunately, Keeble passed away in 1982. But his posthumous award is something his family and every North Dakotan can be so proud of.
It should be blindingly obvious that Keeble has earned his place in our state’s Hall of Fame.
Fifty-seven years after Keeble’s heroic actions in Korea, the Army and the Department of Defense finally saw fit to correct a terrible oversight by awarding Keeble the Medal of Honor.
Keeble received the highest honor afforded to our nation’s military members. Let’s now as North Dakotans encourage our leaders to provide him proper recognition in our own state’s hall of honors.
Let’s honor “Woody” here at home."
