Native veteran to receive replacement medals

Relatives of the late Wilson Keeble, a member of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe, will receive replacement medals for his service in two wars.

Keeble fought in World War II and the Korean War He received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the Silver Star and the Distinguished Service Cross award.

Hard times forced Keeble, who died in 1982 at the age of 65, to pawn some of his medals and he gave others away. Sen. Kent Conrad (D-North Dakota) worked to get replacements.

Conrad is working with Keeble's family and others to award the Medal of Honor to Keeble. The medal is the highest military honor.
