Washington Post columnist and author Sally Jenkins says the "Redskins" team name is offensive to Native Americans.
"My thoughts are that it's absolutely wrong and the team should change the name. It's not like the Seminoles. It's not a tribal name, it's a slur. That simple," Jenkins said in a Washington Post chat yesterday.
Jenkins answered questions about her book, "The Real All Americans: The Team That Changed a Game, a People, a Nation." The book documents how Jim Thorpe, coach Pop Warner and the Carlisle Indians from the Carlisle Indian School in Pennsylvania changed the game of football.
