Lawrence �Pete� Big Hair, a member of the Crow Tribe of Montana, leads the race for sheriff in Big Horn County.

Early returns showed challenger Debbie Winburn with a lead. But as the precincts came in, Big Hair overtook Winburn.

Big Hair is one of five tribal members running for the eight elected county positions. The Crow Tribe endorsed the slate in hopes of turning out the Native vote.

If elected, Big Hair plans to make the fight against methamphetamine a top priority.
