Dozens of people who aren't eligible for membership in the Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island are considering forming their own tribe.
More than 200 people have been kicked out of the tribe since the 1990s. Others have Narragansett ties but haven't been able to qualify for membership.
The two groups want the tribe to reopen the rolls. But if that doesn't happen, they want to form the Northern Narragansett Tribe.
"Thats our heritage and theyre trying to take it from us," Otis Bliss, 69, told The Providence Journal.
Bliss and his 91 family members were removed in 1993. The tribe recently removed another 119 people this year.
