Passamaquoddy Tribe elects new slate of leaders

The Passamaquoddy Tribe of Maine elected a new governor, lieutenant governor and three council members.

Former governor Rick Doyle was elected to the tribe's top post again. He beat state Rep. Fred Moore by just 10 votes.

For the lieutenant governor position, Thomas Lewey beat Dale Mitchell by 28 votes. Three people won seats on the council out of a field of 12 candidates.

The election was for the Pleasant Point Reservation. The Passamaquoddy Tribe's Indian Township also went to the polls but results haven't been reported.
