The Puyallup Tribe of Washington is asking Congress for $6.5 million to fund a new detention center.

The tribe's inmates are currently housed in a three connected double-wide trailers. Three months ago, one of them cut a hole on the floor of his "cell" and crawled out to a nearby bar.

"He got totally blitzed," and crawled back into his cell, a tribal administrator said in recent testimony to the House Interior Appropriations subcommittee.

The tribe plans to house juveniles and adults if it obtains money for the new detention center.
