A troubled jail facility on the Navajo Nation that recently caught fire is closing, The Gallup Independent reports.
The Tuba City Detention Center has suffered from many problems over the years. The tribe is closing the jail and is looking to house the 60 inmates at the Cibola County Detention Center, the center's administrator said.
Jails on the Navajo Nation are among the worst in the Bureau of Indian Affairs system, according to a report from the Department of Interior's inspector general.
