A man from the Pine Ridge Reservation faces additional charges for a beating that occurred off the reservation.

Dakota Garnier, 19, has already been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault for the June 2, 2005, beating of Matthew Pepin. Fall River County prosecutors have now added charges of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated riot, and one count of riot.

Garnier was arrested after he left the reservation. His brother Dirk, 21, is also wanted on charges for the beating but has not been arrested because he remains on the reservation.

The state of South Dakota sought an extradition compact with the Oglala Sioux Tribe to extradite the men. An agreement has not been reached.
