A county prosecutor is asking the state of South Dakota to extradite two suspects from the Pine Ridge Reservation.
Dakota Garnier, 19, and Dirk Garnier, 20, are charged in connection with the murder and assault of a Matthew Pepin, 18. The incident occurred off the reservation in Fall River County.
But since the Garniers are currently on the reservation, the county's state attorney wants them removed in order to face trial. Oglala Sioux President Cecilia Fire Thunder will make the decision, after receiving the request from the state.
