More than 1,000 people attended funeral services for Clifton "Tigger" Yazzie, a member of the Navajo Nation who was killed in Iraq.

Yazzie, 23, was a sergeant in the Army's 101st Airborne. He was killed January 20 when a roadside bomb exploded, according to the Department of Defense.

Yazzie was buried in Farmington, New Mexico, on Saturday. Navajo Nation leaders and state officials attended the ceremony at the Farmington Civic Center.

On Friday, more than 70 vehicles, including 19 motorcycles, escorted Yazzie's body from Albuquerque to Farmington, The Daily Times reported.
