Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona), the new chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, said he will finish holding hearings on the Jack Abramoff/Michael Scanlon lobbying scandal before deciding what course of action to take.

Two hearings have been held so far. They focused on the Tigua Tribe of Texas, which paid $4.2 million to Abramoff and Scanlon to try to reopen its casino after the pair worked to shut it down; the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan, which paid $14 million, and the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians from California

McCain said hearings are slated on the other tribes involved. They are the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana and Sandia Pueblo of New Mexico.
