Prosecutors in Denver, Colorado, were forced to drop cases against 230 people arrested for blocking the city's controversial Columbus Day parade last October.

As recently as Friday afternoon, the prosecutors were ready to proceed with trials. They wouldn't drop the charges even though the eight leaders of the protest were acquitted earlier that day.

But on Monday three judges dismissed loitering charges against the protesters who were first to go to trial. The city attorney then announced it would not prosecute the group.
