The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation has reached a new deal to receive excess bison from Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota.
The tribe had been receiving bison under a five-year agreement. But some raised concerns about the tribe's management of the herd, prompting the park to look into the allegations.
No wrongdoing was ever uncovered as the tribe and the park renewed discussions. The tribe will receive 250 bison this year and plans to negotiate a long-term agreement next year.
