The Intertribal Bison Cooperative will help Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota distribute excess bison.
The park is rounding up bison this week. ITBC has agreed to send the animals to the Modoc Tribe in Oklahoma, the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in South Dakota, the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe in South Dakota and the Spirit Lake Nation in North Dakota.
The park normally sends excess bison to the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation. The tribe is not accepting new animals in order to get its existing herd under control. The tribe was accused of mismanagement.
