Former leaders of the Kickapoo Tribe of Texas funneled tribal money to a state judge, The San Antonio Express-News reports.
The indictment charging six people with stealing more than $900,000 from the tribe lists two cash payments given to a "state judge." Isidro Garza Jr., the tribe's former manager, gave $10,000 on one occasion and $5,000 on another, authorities say.
The Express-News linked these payments to 365th District Judge Amado, who is based in the same county as the tribe. The paper said reports filed with the Texas Ethics Commission show the judge receiving $10,000 and $5,000 on the same dates listed in the indictment.
Abascal wouldn't comment on the donations. Hey may have broken state campaign finance law, the paper said.
